At Upton Heath, Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PSHE), including Relationships and Sex Education (RSE), plays a vital role in empowering our children to become responsible, courageous and compassionate citizens.

Our curriculum is rooted in Jesus's Parable of the Good Samaritan, which teaches us the importance of compassion for others, the courage to act when others choose not to, and taking responsibility for our actions and their consequences. Through a carefully sequenced progression from EYFS to Year 6, children build their understanding across three core themes: Relationships, Health and Wellbeing, and Living in the Wider World.

Our Relationships curriculum helps children develop an understanding of family and friendship, safe relationships, and respecting themselves and others, with age-appropriate RSE content building sensitively year on year, from recognising that all families are different in EYFS, through to exploring healthy relationships, communication and human reproduction by Year 6. In Health and Wellbeing, children learn about physical health, mental wellbeing, growing and changing, and keeping themselves safe, including online, developing the knowledge and resilience to make positive choices throughout their lives. Living in the Wider World helps children understand their role within the school and wider community, develop media literacy and digital resilience, and build their understanding of money and the world of work.

By the time they leave Upton Heath, children will have developed the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to navigate an ever-changing world with confidence, kindness and integrity. We believe that our PSHE and RSE curriculum, underpinned by our Christian values of Compassion, Courage and Responsibility, helps children to reach their full potential and to "be the change they wish to see in the world."
